how it all began....

So, I like a challenge. I have never been a good writer or journal"er". I remember when I was a Sophomore in HS, my Dad (an amazing writer!) had just finished editing my paper. From across the room he asked me to come sit next to him at the kitchen table. With my marked english paper infront of him, red pen still in hand and in a loving way only a father can ask he said "Katie, do you even know how to formulate a full sentence?" So, I won't apologize for my poor writing abilities...I'll just warn.
Anyways, this blog is my new challenge. I have decided this year will be the year of conquering!!! I am going to do things I always said I wanted to do (for example learn to cook or go sky diving), or be the person I always want to tell people I am (a runner or organized...) anyways, that's why I called this blog "scared silly". I realized that I don't do things because I am afraid of failure or regret (this one is basically fear of commitment - which I wasn't ready to admit that I am afraid of).
Fear can be one of the most debilitating things, and it has been in my life. I didn't like that, so I'm playing on the attribute I know I can use, taking the challenge! I'm going to choose something each week, maybe month (remember I struggle with committment) and try it out. THIS IS NOT A BUCKET LIST. Bucket lists are great but they are just that. A list to check off. This is about growth and progress and adventure. So anyways, on to the first challenge....
